Romans 7:15 For I do not understand my own actions [I am baffled, bewildered]. I do not practice or accomplish what I wish, but I do the very thing that I loathe [which my moral instinct condemns].
Periodically, we seem to be in conflict within ourselves. Every day we are faced with the challenges of doing or saying the right things (Romans 7:16-18 AMPC). Sometimes we get it right and then sometimes we don’t. It’s the times we don’t that bother us. As we grow and mature in our relationship with God, things we used to do and not even give it a second thought now bother us. As soon as we’ve done something out of character, guilt and condemnation come in like a flood, and if not dealt with will cause us to feel bad all day long. This is when we have to speak against those thoughts consistently throughout the day until we capture them (2 Corinthians 10:5 AMPC) and bring both them and our emotions in line with God’s Word. The war is going to be with us as long as we’re living and breathing here on God’s green earth. You have to know that as long as you continue to do things God’s way, by maintaining your prayer life and time in the Word, you’ll win more than you’ll lose.
